The brain stores memories of the past. The brain has two kinds of memory, short term memory and long term memory.

FACT #1. The brain is one of the three parts of our nervous system including Nerve Cells and Spinal Cord.
FACT #2. It is protected by the skull, which is made up of 22 bones. The skull is divided into two parts – a) Cranium ( made of 8 bones), where the brain is located. b) The bone of the Face (made of 14 bones).
FACT #3. The brain connects to nerves that travel throughout the body. The nerve cells are part of our nervous system. Our body has billions of tiny nerve cells which are responsible for carrying messages from all over the body.
FACT #4. The human brain is made of mainly three parts i.e. Cerebrum, Cerebellum, and Brain Stem (upper part of Brainstem is pons and the lower part is the medulla).
FACT #5. Cerebrum – It is the largest part of the brain. It has many folds (wrinkles). It controls talking, remembering, thinking, touching and moving. While other parts deal with vision.
FACT #6. Cerebellum, the middle part helps us to keep our balance. It also keeps our muscles working together.
FACT #7. Brain Stem or Medulla, the lower part of the brain keeps the heart beating and controls breathing. This is the place where our brain connects to the spinal cord.
FACT #8. The brainstem is located in the back region of the skull beneath the cerebrum and behind the cerebellum.
FACT #9. The brain stem also controls the functions of alertness, awareness, pain sensitivity, and consciousness.
FACT #10. Our brain is faster and more powerful than a supercomputer.
FACT #11. The human brain is more than three times larger compared to other mammals of similar body size. As the human brain is divided into two halves, the right and left. The right part controls the left side movements of the body while the left part controls the right side.
FACT #12. Our brain makes up about 2 percent of our body weight.
FACT #13. The average size of the brain in the male is 1,274 cubic centimeters whereas 1,131 cubic centimeters in the female.
FACT #14. For general brain health, we need to eat a balanced diet, exercise, and good sleep.
FACT #15. Learning a foreign language, solving a maths problem in our mind without any paper and pen is a good brain exercise.
